Boys Junior Pennants – Round 3 at The Vines

After losing our first two rounds of the season, the Melville Glades Division 1 boys showed their determination and resilience by pulling off a convincing 7 – 0 win against Mandurah Country Club as the barometer hit 39 degrees.

Hayden Faulkner, Zac Hall, Josiah Lim and Cassidy Steel registered their first wins of the season. Aaron Hall who played as number one, never lost his lead ending up defeating seasoned WA state player Josh Herraro 3/2. Ethan Lim who played as number two also scored a 3/2 win despite suffering a minor bout of food poisoning. Tommy McSkimming was steady and won comfortably as well.

So convincing were our boys’ wins, none of the matches went beyond the 16th hole! This win catapulted the team’s position on the ladder from 6th to 3rd place.

We take on Gosnells Golf Club in the next round at Sun City Country Club.

Girls Junior Pennants – Round 3 at Mount Lawley

A 4 – 1 win against the South West Div 2 team by our MGGC/Gosnells composite team has our girls top of the ladder and undefeated through 3 rounds.

Our MGGC girls; Mai Julius, Siobhan Lake and Georgia McSkimming play 1, 2 & 3 for the combined team and together with two new Gosnells players who play just 9 holes, they recorded a convincing victory giving them a 2 point buffer over Sun City and Mount Lawley on their way to a 2019 Pennant flag. Specific mention of Georgia who gave her opponent a 30 stroke start but still won 5/4!

Next week they journey to Gosnells to play Sun City.
