School Holidays are upon us and what does that mean for WA Juniors – tournaments everywhere!

The Easter school break commenced in earnest at Royal Perth on Monday with the ‘Super Six’ style format for the Royal Perth Junior Open for both Boys and Girls.

Topping the 50 strong Boy’s Leaderboard for the Strokeplay Qualifying was our own Ethan Lim who shot 73, with birdies on 17 & 18 to qualify no.1 for the afternoon 6-hole match play series. Ethan went on to defeat Jordan Flatman from Mount Lawley in the quarter-final and in the semi-final was one up over eventual winner Ian Pienaar with one hole to play. Ethan lost the final hole (no.6) and in the deciding shoot out, the Joondalup player sunk a 15m putt for birdie going on to defeat The Vines’ Liam McEvoy in the Final 1-Up. Ethan finished in 3rd place in the Nett Division with 70.

Ethan’s brother Josiah also contested the Open finishing 10th in the overall Nett division after shooting 81 (73 Nett). Mai Julius was our only Girl’s representative who finished 11th to just miss out on a quarter-final berth.

At Lakelands CC on Tuesday Hong Bin Wong finished runner-up in the Junior Open 15-17 years with 74, losing on a count back. Overall Hong Bin finished in a tie for 2nd behind LCC’s Gareth Steyn who recorded 72.

Ethan Lim maintained his good form finishing in the Top 6 players with 76 whilst Josiah Lim finished tied for 4th in the overall nett with 71 after firing a gross score of 79. Well done to Team Melville!!
