There’s plenty of golf happening across Perth for these October School Holidays and ‘Team Melville’ is enjoying great results in many of the Junior Opens these past few weeks.

Aaron Hall, fresh from his MGGC Amateur Open success last month continued his good form by taking out the Rockingham Junior Boys Salver, firing a 3 under par round of 69, winning by 8 shots from Joondalup’s Gareth Steyn. Aaron, now playing off scratch, eagled hole #7, the longest par 5 on the Rockingham layout.  One of our new young members Connor Roberts finished runner-up in the Boys Junior Stableford event with 37 points playing off a 36 handicap. Well done guys!

Ethan Lim (1), also in career best form, finished runner-up in the Joondalup Junior Open on October 1, two strokes shy of local JCC junior Connor McKinney (+4), but he clearly won the Nett with a 72.  MGGC had a few juniors representing the club, with Tommy McSkimming tied 9th with a 76. Jason Mak and Josiah Lim also ‘flew the flag’ for the Boys, whilst Mai Julius tied 9th in the Junior Girls’ division.

Good luck to Mai Julius, Jason Mak, Ethan and Josiah Lim as well as Tommy McSkimming who will all contest the Mount Lawley 2019 Junior Open on Friday.

The Royal Fremantle Junior Bowl is on 13 October, whilst some of our low handicap juniors will also be tackling the Pre-Qualifying round the following day at RFGC in an attempt to secure a spot in the Nexus Risk WA Open Championship (17-20 October), up against the professionals at Cottesloe.
