Thank you to all who attended, donated trophies and provided input to Sue’s discussion on the future of the Ladies Committee. This document was written for Golf Australia in 2019 following a study by the Australian Human Rights Commission. As a minority group within our golf club, it is well worth taking your time to read this document. It outlines how ‘special measures’ can be applied at our club to promote equal opportunity for women and girls in golf. We are well on the way to achieving some of the goals set out in the document, for instance our gender-neutral membership categories, but we can still strive to do better.

Course Record

It was a pleasure to present Ruby Cotton with a plaque at the LAM to recognise her recent women’s course record round of 71. Ruby shot this impressive score in the 1st round of the Melville Glades Amateur Open on 14th September 2024. The plaque will be displayed permanently at the Clubhouse once Ruby has enjoyed showing it off to her family and friends. Congratulations Ruby on this fantastic achievement.

Breast Cancer Day

Jodee has sent off the $1100 to Breast Cancer Trails that we raised at our annual Breast Cancer Day Thanks to all who contributed, in particular Chris Orr, who coordinated the day.

Cash for Christmas

Our annual cash for Christmas is on again this year thanks to Julie Davies. Tickets are $5 each. With only 100 on sale, that is pretty goof odds to win one of the prizes to be drawn at the Christmas lunch. First prize is $100, with 8 prizes of $50.
I’d like to take this opportunity to personally thank Julie for her tireless work over the years as Treasurer on the Ladies Committee. I know Julie will be still around, off the golf course, working on the History and Heritage Committee and offering her help when required. Your contribution has been immense and truly appreciated.

What is coming up?

The newly minted greens on holes 1 to 6 are back in play as of today. I can’t wait to get out and have a round to try them out. I wonder if the lack of bunker at the back of the 6th hole will make us braver, and a little less nervous, with our shot onto the green?

Sunday 24th November – Mixed Foursome Championships.
