MGGC junior Ben Kivelhan competed in the 3-day, south-west carnival earlier this month at Bunbury and Capel Golf Clubs, taking home the spoils with success in the Capel Junior Open conducted over 36 holes.

With rounds of 70 and 67 for a total of 137 Nett, Ben (13 h’cap) scored by one shot from Dunsborough Lakes’ Jasper Edwards in a field of 27 juniors from across the State.

Ben was the only MGGC junior to take part in the Capel event, although Paul Dwyer and Ben’s father Scott contested the Capel Open, run in conjunction with the juniors.

Paul and Scott didn’t fare as well as Ben, finishing well behind promising Joondalup junior Joshua Greer, who recorded an outstanding gross score or 134, 10 strokes under par!

Juniors are reminded that the annual feature junior event at Melville Glades is quickly approaching with the MGGC Junior Classic, sponsored by Bil Richardson’s Old Perth Port on Thursday 28 January, 2021, tee-times commencing from 11.30am.

Entry fee for this event is $20 for MGGC members and $30 for others, which includes a sausage sizzle and refreshments before teeing-off. Entries, which can be found here close with the Club on Friday 22 January.
