Round 3 Monday 16th May

Our Division 5 team spent a sunny afternoon, golfing along-side the Cottesloe coast at Sea View Golf Club. We had a leisurely 11.30am tee off with our opponents from The Vines Country Club.

And we are very pleased to report another convincing 5 games to 2 win!

Sea View is a challenging 9 hole golf course with fairways sloping down towards the ocean, slippery greens and some tricky winds.

As a handicapped event, our Melville Glades team had to gift the Sea View team 12 shots.

Congratulations to Captain Anne Ward who had the team cheering her in for a 1 up win on the 18th.  It was a great “never give in” win, after trailing for much of the match.  Lynda Wake followed up last week’s win with another confidence building 5/3 win over their number 1.  Cheryl Collings won again 2/1, but admitted to almost snatching defeat from the jaws of victory, after giving back an early 4 hole lead. She is a seasoned performer and came home with some classy shots to secure the win. Christine Orr has been outstanding with 3 wins from 3 outings. Today she notched up a 4/3 victory – keep it going Chris.  Jenny Marsh charged back into the winner’s circle with a “never in doubt” 7/6 win.  Jenny is in good form, playing some elegant golf shots. Nina King felt the disappointment of her first loss going down 4/2. Having her caddy out on Covid watch didn’t help, as she took on an experienced wife/husband player/caddy duo. And the team welcomed back Tracy Johnson for her first hit out of the season.  Tracy admitted to being a little rusty but fought on to the 16th going down 4/2.

Thanks again to our fabulous Melville Glades caddies, Helen Constable, Anne Hitchen, Joan Henley and Judy Harrison.

Next week we take on Cottesloe at Royal Fremantle Golf Course and are hoping that the windy rainy forecast is incorrect. So do our Division 3 team who will be heading out for their first game of season.
