Well, a lot has happened in my golf world since my last blog. Thanks to those of you who have offered your support and congratulations on my election to Vice Captain of MGGC.

The golf calendar is well underway and has already seen us play two Putting and Consistency stroke rounds, the first Silver Spoon, Silver Anniversary Round 1 and the Jubilee Foursome qualifier. Next Tuesday is the start of the Women’s Club Championships. It is certainly all happening!

Congratulations to our winners of these events:-

  • Putting and Consistency Round 1 – Kerrin Thomas
  • Silver Spoon Round 1 – Lynda Wake
  • Silver Anniversary Round 1 – Lynne Sinclair
  • Jubilee Foursomes – Pam McHugh and Lorraine Rochelle

The Winter Eclectic is also underway with You Ran Han on top with a 64.35 Nett Score to date. The Eclectic competition keeps track of your best score on each hole across all competitions in the winter season. It is a little tricky to find on the Club website so here are some instructions. Log onto the Club website then navigate to  Home -> Leaderboards and scroll down to the bottom of the Leaderboards list and click on Eclectic. You will be taken to a list of Eclectic comps, select women’s and away you go.

What do Dragons, Flowers and Winds have in Common?
They are all Mahjong tiles.
Dorothy Cropper will be holding an Introduction to Mahjong session in the clubrooms on Tuesday 9th April from 11 am. It’s a great way to socialise with other members and expand your mind. All members are welcome to join in.

Club Championships – 9th to 18th April,2024
Good luck to all of you playing in the Club Championships. The draw for Rounds 1 and 2 has been completed for each grade and will be available to view at the usual timesheet opening dates. Round 3 and 4 are seeded draws and will be entered and available after the previous round is completed.

Don’t forget to see Jodee in the office for your championship dinner meal selection and payment.

For those members who have been unable to enter the Club Championships, I have organised for 9 holes of social golf from 10:30am on the 9th, 11th and 18th April. The course is closed for Men’s Senior Pennants on 16th April. Please contact myself or Anne Hitchen if you are interested in playing social golf on these days. Please be aware places are limited.

If you have to withdraw from any rounds of the Club Championships or social play, please contact myself or Anne Hitchen. If it is on the morning of the round, please contact the Pro Shop.

I’d like to finish this blog by sharing an essential rule of golf we should always keep in mind when out on the course.

Rule 1.2a – Conduct Expected of all Players
All players are expected to play in the spirit of the game by:

  • Acting with integrity
  • Showing consideration to others
  • Taking good care of the course

Take care and be kind.
