Although the great majority of us use the MiScore app on our mobile phones to record our golf scores, how many of us are aware of all of the other features of the app that can help us to better enjoy our round and our golf in general? Here are just some of the features of MiScore that you can access:
- Keeping track of your side-bet matches is much easier now. When you first log on after choosing scoring partners you will see the box showing the hole number is flashing. Tap on this and you can see and track the side match – either the doubles (fourball) match if there are four of you or a singles match if you are playing against one opponent.
- You can view your complete scorecard at any time by tapping the ‘Total’ box on the screen on any hole.
- You can measure the distance to any feature on the course through an interactive aerial view of the course. To access this just tap on the ‘To pin’ box on the top right of the screen. This opens the aerial view and shows where you are standing and the distance to the pin. If you want to know how far it is to carry a bunker in front of the green, just tap on the bunker and the display will update with the distance to the point you have tapped and the remaining distance from that point to the pin. This feature is also useful if you are off in the bush and can’t get a direct line to use your rangefinder.
- Want to know how far you drove the ball? Again, tap on the ‘To pin’ box on top right. On the aerial view screen beside the words ‘Distance to Pin’ there is a box. Tapping on this box will toggle it between ‘distance to pin’ and ‘distance from tee’.
- When you are walking into the bush to look for a ball, as you arrive near the point where you think the ball is, tap the box showing the time into your round on top left of the screen. This will automatically start a three-minute countdown. This is a really useful feature to help us with pace of play.
- By clicking the ‘Menu’ button top right you can access all sorts of resources such as today’s leaderboard, your handicap stats, your score history, the R&A Rules of Golf and the current MGGC local rules. You can also access MiStats (see below).
- In MiStats you can see:
- How you have performed on each course (e.g. Blue, Men’s) by selecting ‘change course’.
- Recent rounds played on that course with the relevant dates, your total score, your hole by hole score and how long your round took to complete.
- Your average stableford score.
- Your best four holes and worst four holes from your historical stats.
- How often you par, birdie, bogey, double bogey or pick up on every hole.
- Your performance by hole type i.e. Par 3, Par 4 or Par 5.
Hopefully this has given you a little insight into what MiScore can do for you. Happy golfing!
