Dear Members,
In recent months we have been in discussions with Golf Australia regarding a transition that will take place in September/October. Management of member handicaps will move from the current platform, GolfLink, to a new system called Golf Australia Connect. At the same time, the existing GA Handicap App will be replaced with a new Golf Australia App.
The features you currently use in the GA Handicap App will transfer across, with the addition of new functions designed to enhance your experience. Further instructions on downloading and using the new app will be shared with members once received from Golf Australia.
Key information for golfers:
• The new Golf Australia App and handicap portal at GOLF.com.au will go live on October 2, 2025.
• There will be an offline period during the changeover where no handicapping functions will be available. This will commence at 10pm AEST on September 28 and conclude with the launch on October 2
• During this period, no handicapped competition rounds will be conducted at the club. This is a nationwide process, with all clubs experiencing the same handicap blackout period.
• Licensed Software Providers will complete the transition of their client clubs to the new platform between October 2 and October 10.
• Golfers will be able to log in via the new App or GOLF.com.au to view their GA Handicap, access their scoring history, follow friends and more.
• Your current GOLF Link number will become a lifelong Golf ID, which will not change when you move between clubs.
Golf Australia has advised that players who use golf.org.au to check their handicap should review their existing account details to ensure they are correct, as a verification step will be required later. For those who do not currently use the platform, we encourage you to set up an account at golf.org.au so you can continue to view your handicap history following the transition.
It is estimated that over 85% of members already have an account with Golf Australia, however we strongly encourage all members to register now to ensure a smooth transfer of records.
Members should also be aware that Golf Australia may provide direct communication in the lead-up to the transition.
As with any major technology transition, there will be some initial steps for both clubs and members to help facilitate the change. Golf Australia has confirmed that these steps will be kept as simple as possible, and our team will be on hand to support members throughout the process.
Further details will be communicated as soon as they become available.
Happy Golfing!
Kind Regards,
Harrison Peasnell
