With shotgun starts now concluded, we are entering a new phase that gives us more time, flexibility, and organisation for social play in the afternoons. After a few very wet weeks, this change comes at the perfect time as we look forward to longer days and some well-deserved sunshine.
To help make the most of this shift, we are introducing a couple of small but important updates to afternoon play at Melville Glades – starting from Tuesday 19th August.
Optional Tuesday & Thursday Afternoon Sweepstake (18 Holes)
We are introducing a new optional 18-hole sweepstake competition on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons.
- Tee times from 12:00 PM to approximately 1:20 PM (adjusted with daylight)
- This window will extend gradually with more daylight
- A chance to submit a card for handicapping, enjoy a comp format, or play in a smaller, more structured field
- Completely optional – social bookings are still welcome
This format supports smoother afternoon operations while offering a new competition option for those who want it.
Please note:
Ladies competitions, senior pennants, and corporate bookings will continue to take priority when scheduled.
Afternoon Social Play Tee Sheet – Starts at 3:30 PM (Tuesday to Sunday)
We are also introducing a dedicated daily 9-hole social play tee sheet from 3:30 PM to 3:45 PM, available Tuesday through Sunday.
- This is the start of afternoon social tee times
- Open to all members for casual play
- Not part of any formal competition
This new window is designed to:
- Improve safety – clearer visibility of who is on course
- Promote accountability – structured tee bookings
- Enhance efficiency – avoid informal queues and overlapping play
Booking Reminder
Whether you are entering the sweepstake or heading out for a casual 9 holes, please book via the members portal or call the Pro Shop to confirm your intended tee time is available.
If you have any questions or queries, please email golf@melvilleglades.com and we will be happy to assist.
Thanks for your support – we are looking forward to a great run into spring and seeing more of you out on the course.
Kind Regards,
Harrison Peasnell
