Dear Members,

The recent resignation of the Club Vice-Captain has created a vacancy on the Board. Under the Club’s Constitution this may be filled as a Casual Vacancy by the Board.

The Board is seeking expressions of interest from members for the position of Vice-Captain. The casual vacancy will be through until the 2026 AGM upon which time the role will up for re-election.

Vice-Captain
The key roles of the Vice Captain are to:

  1. Deputise for the Captain whenever necessary and as a member of the Board shall participate in the overall management of the Club.
  2. Be responsible for such other functions as may be conferred upon them by the Board or are as prescribed in the By-Laws from time to time or both. While traditionally the role of the Vice-Captain has been to chair the Junior Members committee this function has been brought into the Match committee with the Junior Coordinator functions assumed by the Pro Shop. A more detailed outline of the Match Committee functions can be found under clause 6.2 in the Club’s By-laws.
  3. Members should note that participating in the overall management of the Club is the primary function of this position. This includes meeting the Club’s legislative obligations and fiduciary duties, setting the Club’s strategic direction and the oversight of management. Applicants should address these key responsibilities in their expression of interest. 

Submissions
Interested members should submit a succinct written expression of interest that outlines their experience and suitability for the nominated role. The Board will subsequently review submissions and may conduct interviews prior to making any appointments. Written submissions may be sent to gm@melvilleglades.com or, handed to the General Manager in his office by no later than 5pm August 15th.
