Hello Fellow Members,
My name is Shane Corney and I’ve been an active member at MGGC for many years.
I would like to take the opportunity to introduce myself as instigator of this great golf club’s charity of choice for 2025, also share a brief explanation of why it means so much to me and my family.
Between 2022 and 2023, we tragically lost a grandson and son in law from the same family unit to a horrible disease we all know as cancer. In memory of these two legends, and to carry on their strong values of nurturing and caring for others, we have been personally supporting the Australian Cancer Research Foundation to assist with finding ways of limiting other families going through the same dreadful experience. I know that many other members have also been affected in some way by cancer.
Melville Glades Golf Club has graciously accepted ACRF as this year’s Charity of choice. My family are very appreciative of this and have been working with Matt and Jodee on ways to instigate generous donations throughout events during the year.
The main reasoning for this message is to bring attention to the Charity Raffle currently running. With 1,300 members and only 2,000 tickets available, the odds are desirably in your favour. It would be great for all tickets to be purchased by club members, and to see a familiar face when announced as the winner on the Charity Golf Day in September.
So please get yourself a ticket or two from Admin Office or the Clubhouse and be an important part of ensuring the much needed cancer research ACRF are dedicated to continues.
