Over the past 12 months feedback has been received by the course committee that some of the green sizes had begun creeping in. To address this course staff started to hand mow the lap/finishing cuts. Lap cuts have traditionally been mowed twice a week, on Wednesday and Saturday mornings.

With the month of June being 7.30am shotgun starts on Wednesday and Saturday it means that the greens are being mowed from as early as 4am. This means that 90% of mowing is being completed in the dark which makes it very difficult to produce an accurate lap cut and mow as close to the edge of greens as is possible during the summer months with a regular two-tee start.

In an effort to avoid the greens ‘shrinking’ during this time course staff have begun hand-mowing lap cuts on a Monday/Tuesday and Thursdays with a hand-mower to produce a more accurate cut with reduced time pressure from golfers and during the natural day light.
