Men’s Senior Pennants 4BBB – South Red – Matt Thomas
Tuesday 16th April saw us at home to Royal Fremantle.
The boys had an exciting 3-2 win to go with their win last week – a great way to start the season. We had to call on our two reserves when Frank and Graeme where unable to play but both Dean and Kim did us proud.
Two pairings won 3-2, two halved their matches and one went down 5-4 – one of the halves went down to the last putt of the day but Freo missed a relatively easy shot and we held on – just!
We were all proud of the fact that Fremantle were full of praise for how the course presented. This is a real credit to Dane and our grounds team.
So next week we are off to Royal Perth and hopefully another win to keep the momentum going.
Well done boys!

Men’s Senior Pennants – South Black – Simon Hird
A closely contested match against Royal Fremantle went down to the wire before the two sides shared the spoils in a drawn match.
Our first two matches were excellent and quite resounding wins, the two lost matches were tight affairs finishing on the 17th and 18th holes respectively while our fifth match was drawn on the 18th green.
Our opponents were very complimentary about the condition of the course and the new greens.
Sea View and Royal Perth also drew their match this week so no team is running away in the race for the flag.
We are looking forward to our next match at Royal Perth on Monday.

Senior Individual Division 2 – Andy McDonald
Another close match on Monday at Joondalup Country Club. Firstly, many thanks to Asta for filling in for meHe was also playing some very solid golf going two up at one stage until his opponent pulled some incredible shots out of the bag to lose on 18 one down.
Again, Andy Gregory played some great golf at number 1 going down 2/1.
Bruce Lee Steere, playing the golf of his life, had a fantastic 4/2 win at number 2, constantly putting pressure on his opponent.
Pete Waters saw his lead taken on 18 when his opponent sank a 25ft putt to halve the match. Steady as ever it was great to have him back in the team.
Greg Cartwright just couldn’t get out of the blocks in his match and being unfamiliar with the course suffered his first defeat.
Next stop is Royal Fremantle GC on Monday V Gosnells. Tee off at 8:00am from 1st tee.
